Meet Kelsey Hohlen, PA-C
Kelsey Hohlen, PA-C, was born and raised on a family farm in Hastings, NE. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln in Nutrition, Exercise, and Health Sciences. She went on to earn her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska in 2012. Her first job out of PA school was working at a pain medicine clinic with Dr. Philip Essay and she has continued working with him in his transition to Innovative Pain and Spine Specialists.
She has gained knowledge from working with physiatrists, anesthesiologists, and orthopedic spine surgeons throughout her time in pain medicine. She especially enjoys the collaboration between the physicians and providers as they work as a team with the best interests of their patients at the forefront. She is no stranger to developing multi-modal treatment plans that include medications, injections, procedures, and other complementary therapies and services to meet the individual needs of each patient.
She is trained to perform various types of nerve block, joint, and trigger point injections. She has also earned her certification to prescribe medication-assisted treatment for patients suffering from opioid dependence. Kelsey is a member of several professional organizations, including American Academy of Physician Assistants, Nebraska Academy of Physician Assistants, and American Academy of Pain Medicine. She’s also been actively involved with her sorority, Gamma Phi Beta.
She feels lucky to work with a group of people who are dedicated to patient care with a healthy dose of sarcasm that adds to the laid-back environment. She truly enjoys spending time with her patients as she helps them understand their pain conditions better.
When she’s not taking care of patients, Kelsey loves to attend concerts, especially that of country music. She also likes to decorate (and redecorate) her home, catch Husker basketball games, and spend quality time with family and friends.
