Minuteman (Minimally Invasive Interspinous Fusion) Procedure
Common causes of back and leg pain are spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal), degenerative disc disease, and spondylolisthesis (slips of the vertebrae). The Minuteman procedure is a minimally invasive treatment for patients with these conditions who are not candidates for back surgery. The procedure is done through a one-inch incision to place a spacer between the vertebrae. The space serves to distract the vertebrae and prevent compression on the nerves and discs of the spine that are causing the pain. The procedure is completed in an outpatient surgery center and typically takes 30-60 minutes. The pain medicine physicians at Innovative Pain and Spine Specialists in Omaha and Lincoln will help determine if the Minuteman procedure is right for you.
